Bobby Weir, founding member of the Grateful Dead, is celebrated as one of rock’s most distinctive rhythm guitarists. Since forming the band in 1965, Weir has helped earn the Dead a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, over 51 Billboard Top 40 albums, and a record 2,318 concerts. Their enduring legacy continues through Dead & Company, which Weir co-founded in 2015 with fellow Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, alongside John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti. The group has completed 10 tours for more than 4 million fans, grossing nearly $115 million on their 2023 Final Tour.
Weir also leads Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros, formed in 2018 with Don Was and Jay Lane. The band explores the Grateful Dead catalog and Weir’s solo work, completing eight tours and selling nearly 300,000 tickets, including 84 sellouts. Since 2020, they’ve been joined by The Wolfpack, a string and brass quintet adding orchestral depth, and Barry Sless on pedal steel. Together, they’ve performed with major symphonies, including the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
In 2023, Weir celebrated the 50th anniversary of his solo debut Ace with a special Radio City Music Hall performance featuring Wolf Bros, The Wolfpack, and guests like Tyler Childers and Brittney Spencer. Recent releases include Live in Colorado Vol. 1 and 2, recorded at iconic Colorado venues.
Weir’s acclaimed 2016 solo album Blue Mountain marked his first original material in 30 years. He’s been honored with the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Les Paul Spirit Award, and serves as a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador. Weir also partners with D’Angelico Guitars for signature models, including the award-winning Bob Weir SS and Bedford.
