Modest Mouse, led by frontman Isaac Brock, has evolved from feisty lo-fi heroes to chart-topping rock statesmen since forming in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington. Influenced by the DIY ethos of Calvin Johnson’s K Records, their '90s releases blended dark, introspective indie with Pixies-inspired pop and energetic rock, all tinged with Brock’s existential dread. Their major-label debut, 2000’s "The Moon & Antarctica," showcased expansive, layered guitars, followed by the 2004 hit-packed "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," featuring the No. 1 single “Float On.” With an ever-changing lineup and the addition of former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Brock remains the band’s unchanging, neurotic core, ensuring Modest Mouse stays uniquely eclectic.
