Celebrating over 30 years together, Guster returns with Ooh La La, a vibrant new chapter that balances their signature sincerity with bold sonic exploration. Known for their Billboard-charting hits, nonstop touring, and deep bond with fans, the band—Ryan Miller, Adam Gardner, Brian Rosenworcel, and Luke Reynolds—remain creatively energized decades in. “We’re still so hungry,” says Gardner. “We want to push ourselves and stay connected to our fans.”
A follow-up to 2019’s Look Alive, Ooh La La trades that album’s electronic leanings for a warmer, acoustic-forward sound. Produced primarily by Josh Kaufman (The National), with additional contributions from Ron Aniello (Bruce Springsteen) and Rich Costey (Death Cab for Cutie), the album was recorded at Isokon Studio in Woodstock and Guilford Sound in Vermont. The result is lush, intimate, and emotionally rich—highlighted by lead single “Keep Going,” co-written with Rob Kleiner. “It telegraphs joy through the chaos,” says Miller.
Tracks like the hypnotic “All Day” exemplify the band’s evolving artistry and emotional openness. “That song felt like it wrote itself,” says Reynolds. “It reminded us why we keep doing this.”
Mixed largely by Peter Katis (The National), the album embraces depth and vulnerability without losing Guster’s trademark optimism. “We acknowledge the chaos,” says Gardner, “but we always aim to leave listeners with hope.”
Guster’s community-first spirit also lives on in their On The Ocean Festival—a beloved Portland, Maine tradition featuring artists like Lucius and Shakey Graves. “The fans are the reason we’re still here,” says Miller. “They inspire us to stay fearless.”
More than three decades in, Guster isn’t slowing down—they’re evolving, connecting, and creating with more heart than ever. As Gardner puts it: “We’re lifers.”
