Caribou, also known as Dan Snaith, began releasing his music under the name Manitoba before he would have to change his name to Caribou, to avoid a lawsuit. He would release his music under his new stage name, making even more warm, playful electronics that would help to craft his sound. He would also allow his sound to evolve from the studio creations to live configurations that would gain him notoriety in the industry.
His handful of EPs in the early 2000s would be a major start for him, as he would be releasing under new name. His first full two length studio albums included Start Breaking My Heart from 2001, and the critically acclaimed 2003 album, Up in Flames. He would release these later in 2005 in 2007 respectively, and he would also begin to become more involved in the music industry, becoming more noticed and eventually winning the Canada 2008 Polaris Music Prize.
Since then, he has become a significant notable entity in the music industry, creating streamlined textural studio creations and material that live bands take to stages and used to entertain the various fans that he has across the world. He has become a notable contributor to the music industry and is working currently on his seventh studio album. His LP,The Suddenly Remixes, were released in 2021.
