Inspired by time spent at home with his son, RJD2 found new creative energy in the TV themes of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. “These songs had a groove, a chord change, and a melody that stayed with you,” he explains. “They reminded me how hard it is to make instrumental music as memorable as a vocal.”
