Emmy winner Karamo Brown is the host of the nationally syndicated daytime talk show Karamo, produced by NBC Syndication, and serves as the Culture Expert on Netflix’s Emmy-winning Queer Eye. Celebrated for his ability to connect deeply with people, Karamo helps individuals confront personal challenges and embrace growth.
With a background in social services, Karamo draws on his experiences as a Black, openly gay man, son of immigrants, Christian, and single father to empower others. He shares these journeys in his memoir, Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope, and his best-selling children’s book, I Am Perfectly Designed, which encourages self-acceptance.
In 2004, Karamo made history as the first openly gay Black man on reality TV’s The Real World. Shortly after, he gained custody of his son Jason and later adopted Jason’s half-brother, Christian.
A recipient of the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, Karamo also works with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and advises members of Congress on policies supporting LGBTQ youth.
