d4vd (David Burke) is a genre-defying artist who rose to fame just a year after he began making music in his sister’s closet in Houston. A self-taught talent, he was inspired by YouTube gaming videos and started creating Fortnite content as a homeschooled teen. When copyright strikes hit his game montages, his mother suggested he make original music—leading him to discover BandLab and record tracks on his iPhone.
His breakout single, “Romantic Homicide,” a melancholic indie rock hit recorded entirely on his phone, became RIAA Multi-Platinum and reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.
