Bryan Ferry releasing "lost" album 'Horoscope' as part of 'Mamouna' 30th anniversary reissue

Bryan Ferry is giving his 1994 album Mamouna the Deluxe 30th Anniversary Edition treatment on November 17 via BMG. It includes a “lost” album, Horoscope, that was intended to be the follow-up to his 1987 album Bête Noire, but when sessions stagnated he put it on hold and made 1993 covers album Taxi. He then started from scratch, rerecording a few Horoscope songs and new ones for Mamouna.

Horoscope includes “The Only Face” and “Gemini Moon,” songs which would end up on Mamouna, along with six others, closing with a reworked version of Roxy Music’s “Mother of Pearl.”

The Mamouna reissue also includes a third disc titled ‘Sketches” with first-draft recordings, instrumentals and more. You can listen to the instrumental first-draft version of “Your Painted Smile” from 1989 as well as the Mamouna version below.

Mamouna featured contributions from Ferry’s Roxy Music bandmates Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno (“Wildcat Days” was the first-ever Ferry/Eno co-write), Maceo Parker, Carleen Anderson, Steve Ferrone, David Williams, Nile Rodgers and more.
