Mike Myers is widely regarded as one of the most versatile performers of his generation, celebrated for bringing a remarkable range of characters to life across film and television. As an actor, writer, director, producer, and creator, he’s best known for iconic roles such as Wayne Campbell, Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, and the beloved ogre, Shrek.
Myers made his directorial debut with the award-winning documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, which explores the life of legendary talent manager Shep Gordon. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released by RADiUS-TWC in partnership with A&E IndieFilms. It also earned an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Arts and Cultural Programming.”
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Myers began his professional journey with Chicago’s famed Second City troupe. His big break came when Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels discovered him, leading to his 1989 debut as a featured performer and writer on the show. His popular SNL character Wayne Campbell made the leap to the big screen in Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2, both of which Myers also wrote.
He went on to create, write, produce, and star in the hit spy spoof Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, which became a global phenomenon and led to two successful sequels: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember. Myers also voiced the title character in DreamWorks’ Shrek franchise, which includes Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After. His first post-SNL film, So I Married an Axe Murderer, has since become a cult classic.
In recognition of his contributions to entertainment, Myers has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame. He earned a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble cast of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and has been honored with the Jack Benny Award from the University of California, the AFI Star Award at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, and multiple MTV Movie Awards, including the MTV Generation Award. Notably, even his animated alter ego, Shrek, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2015, Myers signed an overall television deal with HBO.
