Ian Karmel is an Emmy-winning stand-up comedian, actor, and writer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Portland, Oregon, he is the co-head writer for The Late Late Show with James Corden, where he was part of the original writing team when the show relaunched in 2015. His previous credits include writing for Chelsea Lately and performing stand-up on Conan, Comedy Central, Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup, and more.
Ian’s debut comedy album, 9.2 on Pitchfork, earned critical acclaim, and he hosts the popular podcast All Fantasy Everything, a comedic pop culture draft show featured on multiple “best of” lists.
A key figure in Portland’s comedy scene, Ian was named Portland’s Funniest Person in 2011 and was a regular on IFC’s Portlandia, the Trail Blazers post-game show Talkin’ Ball, and wrote a weekly column for the Portland Mercury. His comedy roots include training with The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade, and he was a breakout performer at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival in 2013.
