Chris Young is an American country music singer and songwriter who was the fourth-season winner of the TV program Nashville Star. His early life was spent in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he sang in the school choir and participated in the local clubs. He would also perform as a mariachi singer in his high school's performance for the holidays. He would also go to college but perform in over 150 shows yearly.
When he won the Nashville Star contest, he signed up with RCA Records Nashville to begin working on his first album. His self-titled debut album came out in the same year he signed in 2006. His singles "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and "You're Gonna Love Me" would become chart songs on the Hot Country Songs. In 2011, he would also see a top ten hit out of his release, "I Can Take It from There ."In 2017, Chris Young was allowed to join the Grand Ole Opry.
In his personal life, Chris is also highly involved in philanthropic work, as he supports Little Kids Rock and donates various items to them to put up for auction. In addition, he is a significant supporter of Stars For Stripes and St. Jude Children's Hospital. In 2018, Chris Young also donated $5,000 to help pay for surgery for a rescue dog. In addition, he also donated money to the Nashville School of the Arts in 2014 for a scholarship for a talented young student.
