On the air, Oakerson co-hosts The Bonfire alongside Robert Kelly on SiriusXM’s Faction Talk 103, airing Monday through Thursday. He also co-hosts two fan-favorite podcasts: Legion of Skanks with Luis J. Gomez and Dave Smith, and The SDR Show with Ralph Sutton, both on the Gas Digital Network.
His television credits include appearances on This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir, Comedy Underground with Dave Attell, FX’s Emmy-winning Louie, Inside Amy Schumer, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan O’Brien. Longtime fans may also remember him as Neil, the sexually ambiguous rock club owner on IFC’s Z-Rock, as well as appearances on Comedy Central Presents, Premium Blend, and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.
Oakerson’s debut hour special Big Jay Oakerson: Live at Webster Hall premiered on Comedy Central in 2016, followed by his 2018 Netflix half-hour as part of The Degenerates. His albums include An American Storyteller and The Crowdwork Sessions Volumes 1 & 2, capturing his raunchy, off-the-cuff crowdwork. In 2023, he released his newest special, Dog Belly, executive produced by Ari Shaffir and filmed at SkankFest, diving into topics from sexual insecurities to being labeled a Nazi as a Jewish man.
