Known professionally as Axwell, Axel ChristoferHedforsis a Swedish DJ, record producer, remixer, and owner of his own record company,Axtone Records. He is best known for being a member of the band, Swedish House Mafia, alongside other DJ stars, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. He is a two-time DJ Awards winner, and in 2013, he was also 19th on the top 100 DJ poll created byDJ Magazine. He is the third most popular DJ supported producer in the world, and he has been listed as one of the top producers in the world for more than two consecutive years.
Known for his progressive house and funky house style,Axwell got his start in the industry in the 1990s. When he was younger, he would release limited copies of his hard trance EP,OXL in 1995. He was involved in the tracking music scene under the monikerQuazar but would later begin his own career remixing songs in 2000. Some of his most famous remixes have been for artists like Usher, Pharrell, Nelly Furtado, and Madonna. It would be these remixes that would gain him international attention, compared with others in the industry that he had been working with previously.
In 2008, he would join Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrossoto play in Ibiza as Swedish House Mafia. Their group would form, and they would release their very first single, “Get Dumb”, but under their individual names as the credit. This would be the beginning of what would become a significant journey to fame, as Swedish House Mafia is known as one of the most famous electronica bands in the world today. More recently, he has continued to work on more of his solo acts, creating more songs with other members of Swedish House Mafia and even touring with the band for their reunion tour.
