As one of the most talented and diverse individuals in the world of entertainment,Oliver Tree has made a name for himself as a singer, songwriter rapper record producer, comedian, and filmmaker. He was born in Santa Cruz and signed to Atlantic Records in 2017 after his single, “When I’m Down”, went viral and he would achieve significant commercial success immediately. Additionally, Oliver Tree but also released his studio album debut in 2020, titled Ugly is Beautiful, which would also receive significant success. His most recent release,Cowboy Tears, would be in 2022, and it would only be his second studio album.
Starting in 2010, he would launch his solo career simply as the stage name “Tree”. However, Oliver Tree would further gain notoriety making presentations and performances for individuals like Skrillex and Zeds Dead. He would also record dubstep for a time, focusing on performing at festivals in 2010 until 2012. He would also perform as openers for individuals like Frank Ocean. At the age of 18, he would sign with a London-based record and release his debut EP. He would receive some recognition, but he would enter a hiatus after he went back to study music at the California Institute of the Arts.
Following his educational pursuits, Oliver Tree would return to music and perform on multiple different TV shows including Last Call with Carson Daly. He would also sign to Atlantic shortly before graduating from his university. Aside from his musical pursuits, he often writes and directs sketches and comedy videos and has worked with numerous companies over the years. He has also played at numerous festivals, including Lollapalooza and Coachella. In more recent years, he has become more involved in his music and vocal about the fight for ending police brutality. In his personal life, he was formerly dating Melanie Martinez from 2018 until 2021.
