Judy Carter is an American comedian, magician, motivational speaker, and she has also authored four books on comedy and self-improvement. She’s best known for her stand-up and her public speaking ability, with an ability to tell stories and help with reducing stress. She was born in Los Angeles and would begin with magic performances as a kid.
In the 1970s, she would begin her career in stand-up. Carter would form the Comedy Workshop Productions in 1984, targeted at offering the first ever comedy classes in the Los Angeles area at Igby’s Comedy Cabaret. She would also focus later in the 1980s on corporate events and training for office appropriate humor. She’s also produced the California Comedy Conference in Palm Springs.
As an author, Judy Carter has published four books including Standup Comedy: The Book, The Homo Handbook, and The Comedy Bible. As a motivational speaker, she defines herself as a motivational humorist. She has held workshops to help other comedians understand how to adapt their content for corporate events. She was also married to Gina Rubinstein, but they have since divorced.
