My BMX journey started by chance when my mom found a flyer for the local Las Vegas BMX track while getting my bike repaired. One visit was all it took—I was instantly hooked. From then on, BMX wasn’t just a hobby; it became my world. By eleven, I had left other sports behind, fully focused on riding.
At 17, I was named to Team USA for the first time in 2010, earning that honor again in 2011 and 2012 before finally representing the U.S. on the Olympic stage. I competed in three Olympic Games—London 2012, Rio 2016 where I won gold, and Tokyo 2021.
But my Olympic story isn’t just about medals. I hold a rare distinction: I’m the only Olympian to win gold and also nearly lose my life while competing. The crash in Tokyo ended my racing career, but not my commitment to the sport.
Today, I help shape the future of BMX through my work with USABMX, coaching the next generation, and sharing my journey in my keynote speech, “Now What?”
