Christine and the Queens is a French singer and songwriter. She was born in Nantes, and she began to study music at the age of four, learning the piano. She would be inspired by London clubs when she looked and studied classical dance and modern jazz. Christine and the Queens would make her first performance in a small club in Lyon in 2010. After that, she would release her debut EP, Miséricorde, in 2011.
Christine and the Queens are known for having a unique style of music. It is not designated as any particular singular genre but a blend of pop, synthpop, electropop, indie pop, experimental pop, and art-pop. She's even described her work as "freak pop," in honor of the drag queens that inspired her band name.
Since her beginnings in the music industry, Christine and the Queens have released two EPs, including Chaleur humaine and Chris. She’s also been nominated for numerous awards. Out of the 65 nominations she has received, she has won 11 of them throughout her short but impressive career.
