Approaching their 30th anniversary, the Baha Men remain one of the Caribbean’s most iconic musical exports, having created a joyful, high-energy fusion of junkanoo, pop, and dance music that forever changed global pop culture. The Bahamian group skyrocketed to international fame in the early 2000s with their breakout hit “Who Let the Dogs Out,” a song that became a worldwide phenomenon—featured in blockbuster films, heard across sports arenas, and celebrated as a party anthem for a generation.
The single earned the Baha Men a 2000 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, as well as multiple Billboard Music Awards for World Music Artist and Album of the Year. The band also received a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Song in 2000, followed by Favorite Band in 2002. Their cinematic presence grew alongside their popularity, with songs appearing in Miss Congeniality, Around the World in 80 Days, Garfield: The Movie, Men in Black II, The Hangover, and Shrek—which featured their hit “Best Years of Our Lives.”
Their relationship with Disney further elevated their reach. In 2002, they covered The Lion King classic “Hakuna Matata” for DisneyMania, and later recorded “Bahama Roller Coaster Ride,” their take on Lilo & Stitch’s “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride,” for DisneyMania 4.
Recognized by Rolling Stone as “Bahamian junkanoo pioneers,” the group continues to evolve. Partnering with Sony Music Entertainment, they released Night and Day in 2014, later featured on the official 2014 FIFA World Cup album alongside Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Their 2015 comeback album Ride With Me marked a new chapter, introducing collaborations with producer Troyton Rami (Sean Paul, Beenie Man). With recent singles like “Bumpa,” “Let’s Go,” and “Take A Chance,” the Baha Men prove their infectious spirit and Caribbean groove remain timeless—celebrating connection, rhythm, and joy across the world.
