Steve Young is an American former professional football quarterback.He would play fifteen seasons for the San Francisco 49ers primarily, but also play for other notable teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would also play in the United States Football League with the Los Angeles Express for two seasons before being drafted. Young was named AP’s NFL MVP in both 1992 and 1994, and he was also the MVP of the Super Bowl XXIX.
Prior to his entrance into professional sports, Steve Young would grow up in Salt Lake City, Utah. He would serve as the quarterback on his high school football team, and he would have a successful career. He would decide to attend BYU to attend for college, playing football there and remaining close to home. He would be named the First Team All-American by several news channels, as well as earn the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award for his efforts in college at BYU.
Following his college career, Steve Young would enter the draft in 1985. He would be selected by Tampa Bay, where he would play until 1987, when San Francisco would select him for their team. During his career, he would play 169 games and contribute to more than 232 touchdowns.
