Grupo Niche is a Colombian salsa orchestra formed in 1979 and widely recognized as the most successful in Latin America over the past four decades. Founded in Bogotá by Jairo Varela Martínez, a Chocó native, the group sought inspiration by traveling to Buenaventura on the Pacific coast. In 1983, they settled in Cali, in the western region of Colombia, establishing it as their operational base. Grupo Niche has gained critical and public acclaim, solidifying its reputation as a powerhouse in Latin American salsa music.
