Awkwafina rose to popularity in 2012 when she released her song, “My Vag", but she is famous for more reasons than just her first song. She's released two albums, Yellow Ranger and In Fina We Trust. Growing up, she began rapping at the age of thirteen. She grew up in Long Island, New York, growing up in Forest Hills in Queens. After her music career took off, so did her acting opportunities.
Awkwafina is well known for playing in multiple movies and television shows, including Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) and Ocean’s 8 (2018), as well as Crazy Rich Asians (2018). She was also the first woman of Asian descent to win a Golden Globe in any lead actress film category. She's also worked on several Disney and Marvel projects, including Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021).
Currently, she’s the co-creator, writer, and executive producer of Comedy Central's Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, a TV series since 2020.She even stars as the fictionalized version of herself!
