Emerging as Prince's inaugural side project, the Time evolved into a unique funk-rock ensemble. Frontman Morris Day's charismatic swagger characterized their dance hits, distinguishing them from Prince's own innovative style. In the late '80s, the band members pursued individual careers: Day embarked on a solo journey, Jesse Johnson released two acclaimed albums, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis became renowned producers. The Time regrouped in 1990, achieving success with "Pandemonium," and in the early 2010s reunited as the Original 7ven, dropping "Condensate" in 2011.
