He has been critically acclaimed for his work over the years, and he has also been known for the critical but authoritative characters he plays in films. He is best known for being in the Matrix trilogy and Boyz n the Hood.
Born in Augusta, Georgia, Laurence Fishburne entered the entertainment industry at eleven years old. Over the years, Fishburne has played numerous characters, including Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It (1993). He has also starred in Two Trains Running and TriBeCa. He is also the first African American to play Othello in a motion picture in the 1995 Shakespeare adaptation for film.
Fishburne's numerous other credits include The Color Purple, School Daze, King of New York, Deep Cover, Akeelah and the Bee, Contagion, and Man of Steel. He's also most recently starred in Black-ish. In his personal life, he has three children, including Langston Fishburne, who is also involved in the entertainment industry. He also recently divorced Gina Torres in 2018.
