In the 2000s, British band Keane emerged with piano-driven ballads and anthems, rivaling even U2's sales success. Initially inspired by U2 and Oasis, members Tim Rice-Oxley, Dominic Scott, and Richard Hughes formed Lotus Eaters in 1995, later renamed Keane with Tom Chaplin on vocals. Guitarist Scott's departure in 2001 shifted their sound towards piano-driven melodies. By 2004's "Hopes and Fears," Keane mastered a blend of rock theatrics and vulnerability, epitomized in hits like "Somewhere Only We Know." Their evolution continued with Grammy-nominated tracks and diverse collaborations, culminating in 2019's heartfelt "Cause and Effect."
